EX Swimrun Safari Race Welcome to a new kind of experience – where the adventure of a safari meets the thrill of a swimrun race. A concept we have simply chosen to call EX Safari Race. ​ In the heart of the newly established Nämdöskärgården National Park EX Safari Race takes place in the new Nämdöskärgården National Park. Sweden has two marine national parks and unique swimrun races – Koster Swimrun and EX Safari Race. We are honored! ​ About the race – how it works The Safari Race centers around Bullerö, as far out in the outer archipelago as possible in a unique marine environment. The race has no fixed course; instead, there are four checkpoints that teams must pass to continue. The route to these checkpoints is entirely up to each team to decide. It is somewhat similar to One Water Race, but with one major difference – all teams will receive these checkpoints 36 hours before the start. From that moment, it is up to each team to plan their optimal route, create a GPX file, and download it to their watch. In other words, you do NOT need to navigate/orienteer yourself — just follow your route. The evening before, we’ll hold a digital meeting and show how to create, download, and follow a GPX route on your watch. Super easy! After the start, your planned route is what counts, and you are free to explore this extremely tough but beautiful environment. We promise that what looks easy on the map will present an entirely different reality.​ The 3-4 safety boats following the race will serve as both checkpoints and energy stations, and each team must check in at these boats to continue. ​​ After race chill and dinner At the finish line a warming sauna, light food and refreshments await at Bullerö after which we will return to Stavsnäs for an amazing Swimrun dinner together at the Kaj & Krog restaurant.
